I am a UK qualified dyslexia specialist with over 18 years teaching experience. I have taught a huge range of children with a variety of strengths and weaknesses both in the UK and Australia.
Prior to setting up Dyslexia NSW I was the Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator at a Dyslexia Friendly school in the UK for seven years. I was responsible for assessing children, implementing specialist teaching programmes, writing Individual Educational Plans and implementing new initiatives.
Dyslexia is about finding the strengths, as well as the weaknesses. This identification is essential to identify the most appropriate intervention.
Assessments and intervention are different for each individual. Dyslexia can not be cured, one intervention programme will not be successful for every individual. That is why I tailor make every programme to the needs of an individual, drawing on their strengths, and addressing their weaknesses.
I specialise in teaching children with multiple diagnoses who have often tried the many available reading programmes with little or no success. I only use evidence based intervention programmes such as the Dyslexia Institute Literacy Programme.
